DOWNLOAD USER GUIDE HERE

A. Go to http://www.laying-system.com/member/login.php, and enter your username and password as shown here, then click ‘Login’:

Then, from the member’s home page, click the link below ‘Your Subscriptions’.

You will then be taken to the page with the lays, and a number of other links to useful content.

Q. Yes I would like to try your Lay system but if I took either of your trial subscriptions would I be able to change to a yearly subscription?

A. Yes, you would. From the members home page, you simply select 'annual' from the ‘Membership Type’ dropdown list.

Please don't forget to cancel your original subscription.

Q. Will there be an upper limit for the "lays"? Will we be required to sit in front of the computer waiting to get matched shortly before the "off" or can bets be placed in morning or night before and a maximum lay price be clicked into betfair ?

A. Yes, there are SP limits to some lays (which are clearly indicated), but you can set them up in the morning with a betfair price threshold or alternatively use a bot software, like LayBotPro.

Q. What time are the lay selections online?

A. Lays will almost always be online by 6am UK time, and often much earlier / the night before.

Q. What is the average points profit per month?

A. The average points profit per month is 17.5. That is, if a point for you is £10, the average monthly profit is £175. Other values are in the table below.

Q. What do you mean by “allowing for 20% above SP and 5% betfair commission”?

A. Laying on Betfair typically involves offering odds greater than the bookmakers do. So I factor in a ‘cushion’ of 20% above SP to allow for this. Also, when you successfully lay a horse, the betting exchange will deduct a commission of up to 5% (it can be less than this depending on how much you bet, but never more) from your winnings. I allow for this in my results as well.

Q. Why don’t you show the Betfair SP of horses in the results?

A. There are two key (and related) reasons for this. Firstly, the racing database that I use to research this information does not contain Betfair SP. Secondly, and obviously related, is the fact that prior to this season there was no Betfair SP.

The reason for reporting as I have is that I do not have historical data for Betfair SP, except for this year.

In fact, reporting at 20%, is a good example of the swings and roundabouts, as you can see from the last ten winners (and therefore losers for us).

The last ten losers, including Bold Diva (52% over SP) (Freepressionist (10%), Wedding List (22%), My Best Bet (20%), Spouk (0%), Kinigi (3%), Kind Heart (5%), Brave Mave (9%), Royal Manor (-1%), and Sharpener (11%), give an average over SP of 13.1% over SP.

So in this subset, I am actually understating the results by around 7%.

Q. What is the average price of selections?

A. The average price of winning selections (and therefore losers for us) over four seasons was 5.1/1 at SP. Betfair average was 6.11/1.

Compare this with the win strike rate of just 11.39% (about one winner every nine runners) and you can see why this system is proven.

Q. What is the highest price you should lay at?

A. There are three sub-systems to my laying service, and they have thresholds of 7/2, 14/1 and any price respectively.

In reality, there are rarely horses at big prices. Since I’ve been piloting on 5th November, there was a 25/1 shot (pulled up), but otherwise nothing bigger than 14’s.

Average odds have been around 11/2. However, importantly, average win odds have been much lower at 5/2 (I expect that this will increase slightly).

Q. The service looks very good, but I'm just wondering how easy it would be to follow, for a full-time worker like me?

A. it is easy enough to follow: simply lay the nominated selections, while being aware of the SP cut offs for some of them.

Of course, I recognise that that the proviso in the above may present challenges if you have to be at work in the day, as many of my subscribers do.

Most of them either make a judgment in the morning; or set parameters in Betfair (say, 4.8 or 5 for 7/2 thresholds, and 17 for 14/1 thresholds); or they use a bot to place the lays with similar criteria close to the off.

Q. How many bets will we have per day?

A. There has been an average of 4 selections a day in the four years I've researched, though the members' page would show slightly more than this, as some of those nominated may not qualify because of the price constraints (which are clearly stated).

Q. And how and when would the selections be sent out?

A. The horses will almost always be online by 6am, though very occasionally it could be later. Please note that there is no email sent out – you will need to log onto the website.
